Fellow Membership:
The Dorset Artist Guild fellow membership is £30 per annum, this will increase to £50 from the 1st April 2025. If you are a professional artist interested in joining our community, we invite you to submit your portfolio for consideration. We look forward to welcoming new members who share our passion for art and creativity!
Please note that membership is selective. To avoid disappointment, ensure that you are a professional artist (not a craft-based artist) and that you are available to fully participate in the group. Additionally, we have a limited number of spots available, and once we reach our maximum capacity, we will not be able to accept new members.
Fellow membership includes:
- Invitations to exhibit in our quarterly exhibitions.
- Opportunity to be in the post exhibition online show.
- Run a stall in our Artists Markets.
- Artist listing on the Dorset Artists Guild website.
- Online sales channel: opportunity to have a gallery listings on Dorset Artists Guild Website.
- Artist support: full members external exhibitions will be supported. We will share on our facebook and instagram. Additionally we can add to our events page.
- Monthly meets for our sketching group on the first Monday of each month, offering artists a relaxed morning of sketching, catching up with fellow artists, and enjoying a cup of tea together.
- Quarterly group challenges.
- Quarterly social meet-ups at to catch up.
- Facebook group to share your practice.
- Instagram: The groups account will collaborate on your posts.
- Christmas meal.
Associate Membership
Become a Dorset Artists Guild Associate Member – Currently free. this will increase to £30 from the 1st April 2025.
Our Associate Membership is open to artists at all stages of their journey. Whether you're just starting out, getting back into painting after a break, or still building your portfolio, we warmly welcome you to join our community as you grow and develop your artistic practice. You'll also have the opportunity to connect with like-minded creatives and find inspiration along the way!
To apply, simply enquire below. While a portfolio is required as part of your application, it doesn’t need to be extensive—we just want to see a glimpse of your work.
As an Associate Member, you can:
- Join our drawing group.
- Run a stall in our Artists Markets.
- Take part in quarterly meet-ups, christmas meal & creative challenges.
- Connect with fellow artists in our Facebook group.
While Associate Members are not eligible to partake in the quarterly exhibition, have an artist listing, or showcase work online, this is a great way to engage with our vibrant artistic community.

We reserve the right to modify, update, or change these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
Membership & Application
- All members are selected based on their portfolio.
- We reserve the right to decline an application if an artist’s portfolio does not meet our selection criteria.
- We reserve the right to decline an application if there are no available spaces on the group.

- Upon acceptance, payment details will be provided.
- The committee reserve the right to review membership after every year of membership.
Fellow member T&C's
- Exhibitions & Markets: Includes 4 exhibition invitations and 2 artist market invitations per year.
- Membership cost - £30. this will increase to £50 from the 1st April 2025.
- Membership Duration: 12 Months from the date you start. If you join mid-year, the membership fee remains the same, and renewal will be due 12 months from the start date.
- Artist Listing: A listing on the Dorset Artists Guild website is included in the full membership annual fee.
- Painting Listings: Painting listings on Dorset Artists Guild Website is on offer to full members. This is up to a maximum of 15 paintings, £50 per year (An additional £5 for 15-20 and £10 for 20-25 pictures). You are responsible for keeping us up to date with available works. All paintings will be listed as a live sale.
Associate Membership T&C's
- Markets: Minimum of 2 artist market invitations per year.
- Membership is Currently free. this will increase to £30 from the 1st April 2025.
- Membership Duration: 12 months membership. Renewed each year.
Sales & Commission
- A 20% commission is taken on all sales (both online and at exhibitions).
- This commission contributes to a fund for advertising & marketing for 'Dorset Artists Guild'.
- All sales revenue is processed through the Dorset Artists Guild's bank account.
- Payments to artists will be made within 28 days of a sale.
Exhibitions/ Artist markets
- There will be a selection committee of three pre-selected members to maintain a high standard. This will be more relaxed for markets.
- Exhibition/ market costs are split equally among participating artists.
- Participating artists must share stewarding responsibilities.
- If you would like to exhibit but are unable to attend or help with an exhibition, please notify the group as early as possible.
- A post-exhibition online show (Not markets) will be hosted for one month, with a limit of 10 paintings per artist at a cost of £10, which will be included in overall exhibition costs.
- Exhibition flyers will feature QR codes (Not Markets) linking to the online sales channel (available only to full members).
- Markets - Artists can promote themselves with their own artists cards/websites.
- The group will promote and market both the exhibitions and artist markets.
Insurance Requirement
- Artists must be members of a.n before exhibiting to obtain insurance coverage.
- Proof of membership must be provided to Dorset Artists Guild. (www.artsadmin.co.uk)
Supporting Artists
- All full members' external exhibitions will be supported.
- We will promote your exhibitions on Facebook and Instagram.
- Events can also be added to our website events page—submit details to enquiries@dorsetartistsguild.co.uk.
Dorset Artists Society – Code of Conduct
Dorset Artists Society is committed to fostering a respectful, supportive, and professional artistic community. By joining, members agree to:
- Respect & Kindness – Treat all members with professionalism and respect. Feedback should be constructive, and discrimination, bullying, or harassment will not be tolerated.
- Community Engagement – Support fellow artists, participate positively in events, and contribute to a collaborative environment. Volunteering is encouraged.
- Professionalism – Present only original work, maintain professionalism at events, and communicate reliably when committing to exhibitions.
- Integrity & Transparency – Address disputes respectfully through the committee. Misrepresentation and non-compliance with society policies are not acceptable.
- Policy Violations – Violations may lead to a review and potential removal from the society.
